Jabra PRO 920 Duo Wireless Headset
The Jabra Pro 920 offers all the essential Jabra headset features available in a MONO but now also in a DUO variant. The Jabra 920 duo wireless headset delivers amazing bang for buck and is designed to work with your office phone handset only. Plus, the Jabra 920 will work with pretty much any brand of office phone you may have because of the unique way all wireless headsets connect.
The real question you’ll have to ask is why would you pay more for another headset? By paying a little more you might get slightly more comfort but it would be marginal. The only reason is if you want it to work with your computer or mobile phone as well. Here you step up to a $280+ price point.
If you’re looking to answer calls away from your desk you'll need a headset lifter or electronic hook switch depending on the brand of phone handset you are using (call our staff for assistance). This device fits on your telephone base and lifts the hand piece up or down when you push a button on your headset, letting you answer and hang up on calls from anywhere in the office. A handset lifter for this headset is available separately, or as a great value pack.
So let’s start by reviewing
The Good
The Jabra 920 offers up to 8 hours talk time and as a very durable build design. The lights on the base unit clearly indicate the status of the headset (better than most headsets).
The sound quality for the Jabra 920 is very good and incorporates their Enhanced Digital Signal Processing (DSP) technology which digitally optimises your voice and music and suppresses echoes. Amazingly at this price point the Jabra 920 also offers users noise cancelling. This eliminates much of the background noise in a regular office and really is a must. Unless you work in the loudest environments standard noise cancelling is all you need. Ultra noise cancelling is available on very few models and you do pay for it. Also incredibly for the money you even get the ability to conference in up to three other headsets (4 in total) . This is a brilliant feature in call centres and where a manager may need to get on the line.
The Not-So-Good
The main downfall of all office-only wireless headsets like the Jabra Pro 920 Duo (and basically anything under $300) is that they don’t work with your computer as well. The future of headsets is moving towards voice and computer convergence – it’s called Unified Communications. This simply means that more people will start to use their headsets for softphone IP applications, VoIP (like Skype) and voice recognition software like Dragon Speak 11 and MacSpeech. The Jabra Pro 920 Duo only work with your office desk phone...period.
The Verdict
If you’ve never had a wireless headset before then this is simply an amazing product at this price. You could pay more but for most it simply isn’t worth it. Very rarely in life is the cheapest model the best option but for many the Jabra Pro 920 Duo is that headset.
Other Headsets You Should Consider Before Buying
You must look at the Sennheiser Pro 2 Phone absolutely worth the extra for the additional features, particularly if you're on the phone alot.
The CS520 Phone is in the same quality bracket as the Jabra is you like.
Many people are buying multi-use headsets to keep their options open. If convergence is in your future it's a good idea to pay a little more to cover your bases now rather than having to replace your headset down the track. For just a little more you can look at products like the Jabra Pro 9460 Duo and the truly awesome Sennheiser DW Pro 2 If you’re looking for mobile phone connectivity as well as office and computer then this is also offered by the Plantronics Savi W700 series (710, W720, Savi W730-M W740) and the sexy Jabra Pro 9470. The Jabra Motion Office works on all 3 devices in AND out of the office.
