The Poly Voyager 4300 series are Bluetooth headsets. They connect directly to a mobile phone via Bluetooth & come with a USB dongle to connect to PC , Mac or laptop. Perfect for working from home but also, with the addition of Voyager Office Base, you can use it in the office with a desk phone (as well as mobile and computer).

This variant is a Stereo (2 ears), it has the standard/larger size USB dongle to create a firm, longer range connection from laptop to headset without using the bluetooth of your laptop. Please check that your PC/Mac/laptop has a USB-A port free..  As this is the UC variant, it will work with any USB application. It is certified for Zoom. Poly supply this headset with a USB-A cable for charging which you can use to charge and use the headset at the same time.

There are a fair few of the Voyager 4300 series. 4310 is mono,  4320 is duo. In addition each wearing style has the option of a USB-A or USB-C dongle.  You can purchase with or without charging stand. This keeps the headset neat and tidy on your desk.  NB This is just for charging and the connection to do this is via USB-A regardless of the dongle type. Next option is UC (Unified Communications which in this case is certified for Zoom or Microsoft Teams, signified by the -M (more on what that means below). All models are compatible with PC/Windows and Mac.

Certification explanations -  MS Teams (-M) vs UC

Teams Certified.  Functionality can depend on how you use Teams and the package you have but in general a Teams certified headset will allow you some shortcuts into Teams and its functions and potentially some Teams alert notifications. If you don't use it with Teams, it will work as a UC headset with 99.9% of applications. 

UC stands for 'Unified Communications' , essentially that just means it’s not certifed for Teams but is certified for other things. It will still work with Teams, giving you audio, you just won't get those shortcuts or notifications) and, like the MS version can be used with other softphones and applications. Standard (or 'UC') versions are certified for use with all leading UC platforms and will work with any application regardless.  CLICK HERE to see Poly's list of supported softphones

Digging a little deeper - It's all about connections

Before we go into any other details, what makes this headset truly unique is the ability to add the Plantronics/Poly Voyager Base to it.  This base works with the 4300 series and the Focus 2 series. So you and colleagues can get the right headset for your needs and use it at home, then when you're working in office,  just pair with the Voyager Base to connect to a traditional desk phone and add more range to your headset (up to 91m total). You won't even have to take the dongle in and risk losing the tiny little thing -  the base has a USB connection to your PC so all you need is the headset.  Also great for desk share and hot deskers.

Digging a little deeper - The headset itself

The 4300 series are the entry level options in the Plantronics/Poly Bluetooth UC range. They have a comfortable wide, slightly padded headband, and soft large leatherette ear cushions to make them a pleasure a wear.

Importantly they have a long and flexible microphone. Its a plain fact that the closer a mic is to your lips, the better it picks up your voice. The 4300s also have Poly 'Acoustic Fence' technology which very effectively blocks other noises from the mic so your caller hears you and you only. Whilst there's no 'lift mic to mute' function in this base model,  the mute button is on the mic rather than the earcup, which makes it much easier to access in a sneeze emergency. (Bless you!)

With a  talk time of up to 24 hours and standby of 50 DAYS, you're unlikely to get caught out but if you are, you can connect via the 1.5m USB cable to your computer to charge and use the headset at the same time, with the option of having Bluetooth to mobile turned on or off.

Line of sight range from the BT700 dongle is up to 50m. This will reduce with walls or electronic interference but it's a great starting point. Remember; the Focus Office Base will give you up to 91m. Range from your portable device (mobile or tablet) will depend on the capabilities of your device, but it's portableafter all,  so that's not such a big deal!

Control your devices via the headset with Call answer/end, mute, volume and power on/off and paiting.  The headset can remember up to 8 devices at a time and maintain concurrent connection to 2 (one of which will be the BT700 dongle or the Voyager Base.)

You'll get voice alerts for remaining talk time, connection and mute status but for any voice control from you will need to use Siri, Cortana or other programmes to control your mobile.
