Plantronics/Poly Savi 7210 Office Wireless Headset
The Savi 7200 Office series replaces the highly regarded CS500 series. The 7210 variant is the mono (one eared) headband style, designed to work with desk phone ONLY. The 7200s use DECT wireless technology to connect to its base unit (not Bluetooth) for the best possible sound quality and range. It comes with the cable to connect to 99% of phones.
What is Poly? Poly is the new name for Plantronics.
As with all wireless headsets you will need an accessory to answer and finish calls via the headset. We know, it seems crazy that even such a modern headset as this can't perform this apparently simple task but there are so many different phones all with different requirements that this functionality just can't be built into the headset. We call it a RAD (remote answering device). It could be a standard handset lifter or a special 'electronic hook switch' (EHS) cable that runs from the base unit to the telephone - it all depends on which make and model phone you have. If you decide not to get this accessory, you'll need to press a button on the phone (or lift the handset up). If your phone has a USB headset port you may not need this but at time of writing, those phones are as rare as hens' teeth and you could need a different headset for that anyway.
So let’s take a closer look
The Good
Made to satisfy even the most intensive phone user, the Savi Office headsets have a comfortable wide headband and to 12 hours of talk time to keep you working all day. It even has an adaptive power system which automatically adjusts the signal strength based on the distance from the base which increases or reduces power consumption, based on your distance from the base station.
As you'd expect from Plantronics/Poly they give great quality wide-band sound or you can switch to narrow-band for the best battery life. The microphone arm is flexible for perfect mic positioning and the mic itself has noise cancelling so your caller will hear you perfectly, not all the noise around you.
FREEDOM - hold on to your FREEDOM! Sorry - we're big George Michael fans here .... With a range of up to 120m you can get some serious multi-tasking done. Now please be aware that 120m is line of sight with no electronic interference to reduce it. Whilst many headsets advertise 120 to 180m range, in an average office it's closer to 55-70.
Protect your ears! Poly's patented SoundGuard DIGITAL protects against sound levels above 118 dBA (decibels). Their anti-startle detects and eliminates any large sudden increase in signal level and Time-Weighted Average prevents average sound level from exceeding 85 dBA.

Great for conferencing as you can pair 4 headsets onto 1 base unit for conference calls. NB the connections breaks when the initial headset is turned off (ie when the call ends) , so not always ideal for training situations.
The Not-So-Good
The main downfall of all office-only wireless headsets like the Savi 7200 Office Series is that they don’t work with your computer or your mobile. The future of headsets is moving away from desk phones to mobiles and 'soft'phone applications (calls made via a PC). If you think this kind of communication is possible in the next 5 years for your business, you may wish to consider a headset with additional connection options.
The 7210 is weightier than it's predecessor by about 40%. This won't affect most people but if you are particularly petite, delicate or have neck problems, you may want to opt for something lighter.
The Verdict
For desk phone only phone applications the Savi 7200 Office range is a firm contender. It’s smart, durable and comfortable with great battery life.
Other Headsets You Should Consider Before Buying
You must look at the Sennheiser D10PH. It's their offering in the more budget range and super value for the high quality headset that it is. It also comes with 2 wearing styles in the box . If you just want a basic headset, the Jabra Pro 920 is good budget option.
If you want to cover your bases and get something to work with a PC also, we highly recommend the Jabra Engage 65 Series or the 75 Series which adds mobile phone connectivity. Sennheiser also have the SDW5000 range with a variety of connection options and superb noise canceling microphones.
