As we always say, the golden rule of headsets is to buy the best you can afford - you'll never regret spending a little extra on a headset of such quality.

The Good

This is not a good headset. It's a great headset. We challenge you to find a better sounding, longer battery life, more intelligent, more comfortable headset - because we can’t!

The range is advertised as up to 25 metres (your device needs to support BT v4) which is better than the majority of BT headset which only offer 10m. The ultra noise cancelling will amaze you. The MB Pro headsets are specifically built to help reduce background noise; the long microphone boom and super-clever tech in microphone eliminates car road noise and air conditioning fans and noisy colleagues. Bear in mind that this is for your caller, not you. You could be at the beach or in a crowded office and still sound like you have the penthouse corner office.

The durable style is perfect for use in office or out & about. Lets face it, headsets are not generally treated with the respect they deserve, so a sturdy build is vital. The MB Pro 1 also give users a new option of over the head for Bluetooth which up until now has been something very hard to find.

With up to 15 hours of talk time you have plenty of charge to get you through the day weather you are on the phone all day long or simply using the headset to listen to music. The MB range also come with Sennheiser fantastic rapid charge feature which gives you a 50% charge in just 40 minutes and a full charge in 2.5 hours - this may sound like a lot but keep in mind it has double the standard talk time of most headsets.

The MB can pair to up to 8 devices and stay connected to 2 devices at a time so you can be having a Skype call on your tablet, then quickly pop them on hold with the headset and answer a mobile call coming in on your phone - all using the headset controls. Or you can transfer a headset call back to your mobile if you want to take it off headset

A little secret is…

...because the MB Pro 1 connects to your mobile, you can listen to music through the headset. It’s great for boring days in the office or to simply give you some tunes to listen to. As soon as a call comes in the music stops, and after the call it starts again. The headset optimises clarity depending on kind of sound is coming through, so music and calls are crystal clear. Genius!

The Sennheiser MB Pro 1 is an over the head style headset. If you want the option of a dual headset go for the MB Pro 2. Like all Sennheiser headsets the headband comes with a little area that can have a name tag, so headsets can’t be accidentally mistaken if you have several of them in an office environment.

Like the vast majority of Sennheiser products, this headset features ActiveGuard technology to make it G616-compliant. G616 is an Australian OH&S guideline created to protect phone users from loud, potentially harmful noises. These ‘acoustic shocks’ are transmitted down phone lines as a result of electricity spikes, weather conditions, transmission faults and the like. Failure to comply with G616 guidelines can result in fatigue, anxiety or temporary/permanent hearing loss, but Sennheiser’s ActiveGuard means you’ll be protected whenever you are using your headset.

The Not-So-Good

The MB isn't voice activated. That said, you can use it in conjunction with Siri or S-Voice to control your phone or of course just tap the headset to answer or release calls (and much more). It does have voice prompts and tones to tell you what's going on with the headset and a battery meter for iPhone users. This is not a small and discreet headset! It's designed for comfort and call quality, not everyone will feel comfortable walking down the street with it on so you need to consider where you'll be using it and get the right headset for your situation/sensibilities. The MB Pro 1 is just for mobile phones. If you’re after a headset that caters for your computer as well then the MB Pro 1 UC will allow for this. The Verdict

The Sennheiser MB Pro 1 is an almost unbeatable bluetooth headset. The only reason you would upgrade to the MB Pro 2 is if you want a binaural (2-ear) wearing style.

Other Headsets To Consider Before Buying

If you are looking for something a little smaller in the Sennheiser range but with the same great call quality the Sennheiser Presence 2 in 1 Bluetooth Headset is a fantastic headset. Alternatively if you don’t want to go with a Sennheiser another worthy contender is the Plantronics Voyager Legend Bluetooth Headset - for those looking for something a little more discreet this is an over the ear design like the presence but still quite different in their design.
