The Sennheiser DW Pro 1 Phone Wireless Headset (aka the DW20PH) is the best quality headset you can get to work with your desk phone (only). It has an ultra noise cancelling microphone so it's perfect for noisy environments and a comfortable headband mono wearing style as well as an ultra-stylish cube based unit. You will see several DW Pro 1 models on our website that all look the same - it's important to note that this particular model works with your desk phone only, whilst the original DW Pro 1 connects to both your desk phone AND your computer.

As a company we’re proud to be able to offer the full DW range to our clients and we challenge anyone to find a better headset range. Plantronics had dominated the market for such a long time but you can certainly argue that with the DW range, Sennheiser is the new heavyweight champion of the wireless headset world. The headphone and microphone gurus at Sennheiser have used their 60 years of audio experience and R&D to create headset perfection. As we always say, the golden rule of headsets is to buy the best you can afford and, we hope your boss has given you the ok to buy any model in the new DW range.

As with all wireless headsets, if you’re looking to answer calls away from your desk you'll need a remote answering device (RAD). For Sennheiser this will be a HSL10 handset lifter or an Electronic Hook Switch depending on the phone you have (call our staff for assistance or add the headset to cart and follow the prompts). A lifter is a device that sticks on your telephone base and lifts the hand piece up or down when you push a button on your headset, letting you answer and hang up on calls from anywhere in the office. The EHS does the same job but with no moving parts - its's cable that runs from the phone to the base unit of the headset. If you don't get one of these you will need to be at your desk and press a button on your phone (or even worse, have to pick up the handset). Not such a huge deal if you're at your desk anyway but if you need to be mobile, you'll get significantly more work done every day with a RAD. Notably the Sennhesier handset lifter (HSL 10) is unique in that it can be programmed to recognise 2 different ringtones and alert you accordingly so you don't have to launch into your company spiel for internal calls.

So let’s find out why we think this headset is simply unbeatable...

The Good

“Good” is a bit of an understatement when it comes to this headset, because we think it’s just straight out fantastic! Here at Simply Headsets, our staff can choose which headset they’d like to use and, since the DW Pro 1 was released, more than 90% of our staff choose this one, and we suspect that the others haven’t changed over yet because they’re just too busy. So if you detect some bias, you’re probably right - we love this one!

The HD voice clarity of the DW Pro1 Phone is brilliant - it’s like 3D for your ears! If you’re on the phone all day, you’ll know how much easier it is to listen when you’ve got crystal clear sound. Having the highest quality sound means that your staff will be less fatigued at the end of the day, and they’ll have more patience with callers, and they’ll look forward to putting on that headset when they get to work in the morning (again, we can vouch for this!). .

Background noise is also a long and distant memory with the ultra noise cancelling microphone. The DW Pro range all have a an ULTRA noise canceling microphone so your caller won't hear that annoyingly loud colleague, the kettle boiling or just the general hubbub of your busy office. They'll just hear YOU in crisp clear glorious Sennheiser sound. This is unique to this series of headsets and we can't stress enough what an amazing difference it can make. You'll sound like you have your own office, making a much more professional impression.

Like the majority of Sennheiser products, the DW Pro 1 features ActiveGuard technology, making it G616 compliant. If you’re not sure what that means, G616 is an Australian OH&S guideline created to protect phone users from loud, potentially harmful noises called ‘acoustic shocks’. These are transmitted through phone lines as a result of electricity spikes, weather conditions, transmission faults and the like. Failure to comply with G616 guidelines (which is also failure to protect your hearing) can result in fatigue, anxiety, and even temporary or permanent hearing loss. The good news is that with Sennheiser’s ActiveGuard feature, you and your staff can rest assured that you’re protected from acoustic shock whenever you are using this headset.

If freedom of movement is an important consideration for you, then think about the staggering 180 metre range provided by the DW Pro series! (As always this is tested under ideal circumstances so will reduce according to the construction and interference in your area). It’s also super fast to charge, which definitely comes in handy when (not if!) you forget to dock it overnight. While most headsets will take at least an hour to charge to 50%, charge this model for only 20 minutes, and you'll have enough battery to see you up to lunchtime. It even provides 12-hour talk time (or 8 hours on high quality wideband), so even the heaviest user won’t run out of juice. How about this for clever? If you’re training someone, all you need to do is get yourself any other model from the DW range. You can then simply place the second headset on the base, and it will automatically conference both headsets to the call. The same feature also works if you have multiple users sharing the same phone (eg. sharing a reception desk). When one user is finished, they can dock their headset to put it on charge. The other user can simply start their shift by ‘touching’ their headset to the base, and the two devices will be automatically paired. This is simply brilliant for medical offices, hot desk situations and any other job that involves sharing duties, because no-one really wants to share a headset! The DW 1 Pro even comes with a little name tag area , so you always know which one is yours. It really seems like Sennheiser thought of everything when they were designing this model.

This headset has also been designed to be tough and durable, tailor-made for call centres and other environments where users might be less likely to treat their headsets well (often because, well - they didn’t have to pay for them). All of our staff members who use this agree that it’s extremely comfortable and can be worn all day with ease.

We challenge you to find a better sounding, faster charging, more intelligent, and feature-packed headset - because we know we can’t!

The Not-So-Good

As you can probably tell, there’s very little negative to say about the DW 1 Pro.

We will note, however, that getting the best that this headset has to offer means you’ll have to fully read the instruction manual. But don’t worry, it’s actually quite straightforward and easy to understand, and if you have any questions our friendly staff are just a phone call away.

The Verdict

The Sennheiser DW Pro1 Phone is an almost unbeatable headset to use with your desk phone only, and that feedback comes from genuine experience from our staff. If you want a binaural (2 ear) wearing style, you’d have to upgrade to the DW Pro 2 is if you want a binaural (2-ear) wearing style. but that’s probably the only reason you would. The only real downside to this product is the fact that not every boss will spend just that little more to purchase this productivity enhancing, brilliant headset. We hope that’s not the case for you.

Other Headsets To Consider Before Buying

We've already mentioned that this is a phone only model - if you need to use the headset with a PC (for Skype, video conferencing, dictation or just listening to audio files) check out the DW Pro 1 or the binaural DW Pro 1.

Most people are buying multi-use headsets to keep their options open. If convergence is in your future, it's a good idea to pay a little more to cover your bases now, rather than having to replace your headset down the track.
