How does this lifter work?

Designed for Sennheiser wireless headsets, the HSL10 handset lifter connects under your phone’s hand piece like a robotic cradle. When the phone rings, your headset will beep in your ear. You simply hit the button on the side of your headset and this sends a signal to the robotic cradle to lift the hand piece up. This then accepts the call and you start to talk through the headset. To hang-up, you simply hit the button on your headset again and the cradle puts the hand piece back. In this way you can answer and hang up on calls away from your desk when using a wireless headset. The Sennheiser model is unique amongst lifters in that it can be programmed to recognise 2 different ring tones. What does this mean? Well, if your phone has one tone for internal and one for external calls, even when your phone display is out of sight you can be sure you’re answering with the appropriate greeting (top tip – this is never ‘yeah whaddyawant’). Remember, however, that the lifter will not let you perform any other phone function like transfer or conference. It purely provides a convenient way to take calls from anywhere in the office without having to return to your desk. Sennheiser D10 Phone Wireless Headset

The Sennheiser D10 Phone Wireless Headset (aka the D10PH) is a monaural (on one ear) wireless headset designed for use with desk phone only. It comes with both headband and earhook styles in the box and has similar specs to the outstanding DW Office (DW10). You will see several D10 models on our website that all look the same - it's important to note that this particular model works with your desk phone only whilst the D10 USB connects to your computer only.

If you’re looking to answer calls away from your desk you'll need an HSL10 handset lifter or an Electronic Hook Switch depending on the phone you have (call our staff for assistance). The HSL10 fits on your telephone base and lifts the hand piece up or down when you push a button on your headset, letting you answer and hang up on calls from anywhere in the office. A handset lifter for this headset is available separately, or as a great value pack. The Sennheiser lifter is unique in that it can be programmed to recognise 2 different ring tones and alert you accordingly so you don't have to launch into your company spiel for internal calls.

We gave this headset to our headset guru Sophie who trials nearly all new headsets that come out and she was impressed! 'This is a great little headset! Same quality and wearing style as the DW Office Phone for $50 less. The quality is the same, gorgeous rich sound you get from all Sennheiser headsets. I spoke to Sennheiser to see how they have managed this - they've simply improved efficiencies in the manufacture of the headset and made the packaging less bulky. You really can't beat this D10 for value and quality, my only caveat is that the D10 has a standard noise cancelling microphone (like all other brands). My beloved colleagues can get a bit rowdy so I personally prefer the DW Pro 1 for it's ULTRA noise cancelling microphone. '

Sophie added 'Of course this just works with a desk phone. I get so many calls now, from clients saying that they now also need their headset to work with a computer - it breaks my heart to tell them they have to start over so please please please; think what might happen to your business in the next 2-3 years. The Good

It’s not so much ‘the good’ in this instance as ‘the great’. We may sound biased but the Simply Headsets staff can choose to use any headset they want, and since its release, more than 90% of our team have switched from the usual suspects to a Sennheiser . That said, we challenge you to find a better sounding, faster charging, more intelligent headset that is designed to work with your desk phone - because we know we can’t.

The DW Office phone is an outstanding quality headset and the D10 Phone looks set to be pretty much the same quality for a slightly lower price. The base unit is a different style, the headset is a little lighter at just 22g in the earhook style. Other than that is the same specs as the DW , so if you just want a headset to work with your desk phone, and don't need the ULTRA noise cancelling microphone of the DW Pro 1, look no further!

To start off, the HD voice clarity of the D10 Phone is brilliant. If you’re on the phone all day you’ll know that the clearer the sound, the longer you can listen. HD is like 3D for your ears! The best possible quality sound will give the best impression of your business, it will leave your staff less fatigued at the end of the day and as a result less likely to call in sick or be less patient with clients.

The Sennheiser D10PH offers users 2 wearing styles, and unlike some headsets which will remain nameless, the mouldable earhook won't cut your ear off. The ear hook moulds to your ear to keep it stable so it doesn't need an in ear bud as ALL other over ear headsets do, so if you want to keep your hairstyle nice but don't like things poking in your ear, this headset is perfect for you (it is very popular with receptionists).

How about this for clever; If you’re training someone, all you need to do is get yourself a second D10. Simply place the headset to the base and it automatically conferences both headsets to the call. The same feature also works if you have multiple users sharing the same phone (eg. sharing a reception desk). When one user is finished they dock their headset and put it on charge, while the other simply starts their shift by ‘touching’ their headset to the base, which automatically pairs the two devices. This is simply brilliant for medical offices, hot desk situations and any other job that involves sharing duties, because no-one really wants to share a headset! The headset even comes with a little name tag area , so you always know which one is yours. If the desk is in use constantly, call us to discuss the best way to keep the batteries charged up.

The super fast charge is SO handy when (not if) you forget to dock it overnight. Most headsets take an hour or more to charge to 50% but with a DW in just 20 minutes you'll have enough battery to see you up to lunchtime. The DW Office has a 12-hour talk time (or 8 hours on high quality wideband), so even the heaviest user won’t run out of juice. Like the vast majority of Sennheiser products, this headset features ActiveGuard technology to make it G616-compliant. G616 is an Australian OH&S guideline created to protect phone users from loud, potentially harmful noises. These ‘acoustic shocks’ are transmitted down phone lines as a result of electricity spikes, weather conditions, transmission faults and the like. Failure to comply with G616 guidelines can result in fatigue, anxiety or temporary/permanent hearing loss (and a huge Work Cover headache!), but Sennheiser’s ActiveGuard means you’ll be protected whenever you are using your headset.

The Not-So-Good

As durable and flexible as the Sennheiser DW Office Phone is, if you want an over the head wearing style then we recommend the more durable and marginally more comfortable Sennheiser DW Pro 1Phone and Pro 2 Phone (they were designed with call centre agents in mind.....). The D10 Phone only works with a desk phone (as it name suggests) - but fear not there is a model that also connects to a PC - the DW Office. Also, if you want to get the most from this headset, you’ll need to fully read the instruction manual. But don’t worry, it’s straightforward and easy to understand and our friendly staff are just a phone call away.

The Verdict

If you want flexibility of wearing styles and the best sound quality around and will only ever need a headset to work with your deskphone, look no further - you have found your headset. The only reason you would upgrade to the DW Pro 1 or Pro 2 is if you want ULTRA noise cancelling or a binaural (2-ear) wearing style. Other than that, the D10 Phone is an outstanding choice. With the lower price, now everyone can enjoy Sennheiser quality!

Other Headsets To Consider Before Buying

We've already mentioned that this is a phone only model - if you need to use the headset with a PC or Mac (for Skype, video conferencing, dictation or just listening to audio files) check out the DW Office or DW Pro 1.

If you’re after a headset that caters for your mobile phone as well then the latest Plantronics Savi W700 series or Jabra Pro 9470are all excellent.
