This version of the Sennheiser DW Office is suitable for all softphones and also certified for use with Skype for Business, Lync and compatible with Teams. The Sennheiser DW Office wireless headset is one of the best in the multi-use product category, (ie phone + PC) The Office range have tandard noise cancelling micro[phone & multiple wearing styles so you can’t go wrong if you change your mind (or get a new staff member).

If you’re looking to answer calls away from your desk you'll need an HSL10 handset lifter or an Electronic Hook Switch depending on the phone you have (call our staff for assistance). The HSL10 fits on your telephone base and lifts the hand piece up or down when you push a button on your headset, letting you answer and hang up on calls from anywhere in the office. A handset lifter for this headset is available separately, or as a great value pack.

As a company we’re proud to be able to offer DW range to our clients and we challenge anyone to find a better headset range.  Sennheiser, the headphone gurus, have well and truly stamped their authority in the headset market with this brilliant series.  The golden rule of headsets is to buy the best you can afford and, for this reason we hope your budget lets you put the DW Office ML on your shortlist.

So let’s start by reviewing…

The Good

It’s not so much ‘the good’ in this instance as ‘the great’. We may sound biased but the Simply Headsets staff can choose to use any headset they want, and since its release, more than 90% of our team have switched from the usual suspects to a Sennheiser (we suspect the rest must have been too busy so far to change!).   That said, we challenge you to find a better sounding, faster charging, more intelligent, feature-packed headset - because we know we can’t (unless you want mobile connectivity too...).

To start off, the HD voice clarity is brilliant. If you’re on the phone all day you’ll know that the clearer the sound, the longer you can listen.  HD is like 3D for your ears!  This feature is also a must if you’ll be using your headset on the computer, as it makes the DW Office ML a great headset for SKYPE, Dragon Naturally Speaking, Dragon Dictate or any other voice recognition software.

A little secret is…

...because the Sennheiser DW Office can connect to your computer, you can listen to any music on your computer through the headset.  It’s great for slow days in the office or to simply give you some tunes to listen to.  As soon as a call comes in the music stops, and after the call it starts again. Genius! Audiophiles please note this headset is optimised for voice communications, not music, so you won't get the normal Sennheiser quality sound when listening to your tunes, but it's still fine to bop out to.

From 2017 the wearing styles for the DW range changed. They still come with a headband wearing style, but they now also have a further attachment which allows for earhook and eartips to be worn. If you ONLY want to wear with an earhook without the earbud in your ear - (if you've had a pre 2017 DW, that's what you'll be used to), you will also need to purchase the EH 10 B which allows you to wear the headset in earhook style without the earbud. For some reason Sennheiser has not included this and sadly you can't really wear the new included earhook style without the earbuds.

How about this for clever; If you’re training someone, all you need to do is get yourself a second DW headset (you can buy these without a base station and save $$$).  Simply place the headset to the base and it automatically conferences both headsets to the call.  The same feature also works if you have multiple users sharing the same phone (eg. sharing a reception desk).  When one user is finished they dock their headset and put it on charge, while the other simply starts their shift by ‘touching’ their headset to the base, which automatically pairs the two devices.  This is simply brilliant for medical offices, hot desk situations and any other job that involves sharing duties, because no-one really wants to share a headset! The headset even comes with a little area that can have a name tag, so headsets can’t be accidentally mistaken. If the desk is in use constantly, call us to discuss the best way to keep the batteries charged up.

The super fast charge is SO handy when (not if) you forget to dock it overnight. Most headsets take an hour or more to charge to 50% but with a DW in just 20 minutes you'll have enough battery to see you up to lunchtime. The DW Office ML has a 12-hour talk time (or 8 hours on high quality wideband), so even the heaviest user won’t run out of juice. Like the vast majority of Sennheiser products, this headset features ActiveGuard technology to make it G616-compliant. G616 is an Australian OH&S guideline created to protect phone users from loud, potentially harmful noises. These ‘acoustic shocks’ are transmitted down phone lines as a result of electricity spikes, weather conditions, transmission faults and the like. Failure to comply with G616 guidelines can result in fatigue, anxiety or temporary/permanent hearing loss, but Sennheiser’s ActiveGuard means you’ll be protected whenever you are using your headset.

The Not-So-Good

As durable and flexible as the Sennheiser DW Office wireless headset is, if you want an over the head wearing style then we recommend the more durable Sennheiser DW Pro 1 and Pro 2 (they were designed with call centre agents in mind.....). The only thing the Sennheiser DW Office doesn’t do is work with your mobile phone.  If you’re after a headset that caters for your mobile phone as well then the latest Plantronics Savi W700 series or Jabra Pro 9470are all excellent.  However, it is very important to note that these will not work with your mobile phone when outside of the office.  If you are after a headset that works when you’re on the go too then you simply must check out the Jabra Pro 9460.  Also, if you want to get the most from this headset, you’ll need to fully read the instruction manual.  But don’t worry, it’s straightforward and easy to understand and our friendly staff are just a phone call away.

The Verdict

If you want flexibility of wearing styles and the best sound quality around, look no further - you have found your headset. Even if you don't currently need the computer compatibility, it's worth the extra few bucks for peace of mind. If Sennheiser hadn’t released the DW Pro 1 and DW Pro 2, it’d be fair to say this is almost an unbeatable headset.  The only reason you would upgrade to the Pro 1 or Pro 2 is if you want ultra noise cancelling or a binaural  (2-ear) wearing style.  Other than that, the DW Office is an outstanding choice.  We know not every boss will spend just a little more to buy this brilliant, productivity enhancing headset – but we hope that’s not the case for you.
