The Plantronics SAVI WO350 headset is being discontinued and is currently being run out until stocks last. The WO 350 has been replaced by the latest SAVI W720 which now not only connects to your office phone and computer, but your mobile phone too. However, because they aren’t a big selling headset we aren’t seeing the amazing discounts that are being offered on the other runout and more popular SAVI models. Our advice is the replacement SAVI 720 is about the same money and even better. Save your money and buy either that or the brilliant Sennheiser DW Pro 2.

The SAVI 350, and even its replacement the SAVI 720, are part of a very small range of binaural headsets and the only other offerings are the run out CS361N (office phone only), the Sennheiser DW Office Pro 2 (office + computer) or the latest SAVI 720 (3 in one!)

If you spend 4+ hours a day on the phone, manufacturers suggest using a binaural model It provides the best sound (because it’s heard in both ears) and also means you can have the volume lower (which is better for your long-term hearing)

If you’re looking to answer calls away from your desk we also recommend you buy an HL10 handset lifter. This device fits on your telephone base and lifts the hand piece up or down when you push a button on your headset, letting you answer and hang up on calls from anywhere in the office. A handset lifter for this headset is available separately, or as a great value pack.

Binaural aside, the Plantronics SAVI 350 is arguably one of the most durable, functional headsets on the market It’s incredibly comfortable thanks to the 2-ear wearing style, and the cushioning is fantastic The office phone-only CS351N and CS361N, on which the WO350 was based, were originally designed for call centre applications, so they’re built to last and the talk time is exceptional at 9 hours Other headsets seem very fragile by comparison

Noise cancelling (which cuts down background noise being transmitted through your microphone) is spot on as you’d expect for a call centre headset, and external noise suppression with the 2 ear pieces is light years ahead of a normal one-eared headset If you don’t want to hear the people around you while on the phone, no headset available compares to a binaural model

The Plantronics SAVI 350 is also a computer headset so you can connect it to your computer and office phone at the same time You simply hit a little button on the base station to toggle between the two modes With your USB connection you can use the SAVI WO 350 for everything from IP calls and IP soft phone applications to Skype, Dragon Naturally Speaking 11 and other voice recognition software One headset that connects to everything in your office is the way technology is moving, and headsets like the Plantronics SAVI WO 350 and the Sennheiser DW Pro 2 are ready for it when you are

A little secret is... because the WO350 can connect to your computer , it means that any music you have saved on your PC can also be listened to through the computer mode of the headset Having some personal music to listen to quietly and discreetly is a great little bonus for office-bound duties As soon as a call comes in and you pick up the call, the music stops When you have finished with the call you simply hang up, touch the computer icon button on the base station and the music starts again How cool is that?

One wearing style (binaural) can be seen as a weakness by some… though not us Unlike headsets that try and do too much, this is not a poor compromise. The Plantronics SAVI WO350 is a dedicated, durable, binaural, over-the-head wireless headset!

Its only other weaknesses are not in what it does, but rather what the other models out there offer over and above it The Sennheiser DW Office, for example, gives you name tags (so no-one uses your headset by mistake) and multiple headsets paired with a single touch (great for training, conference calls and shift workers)

It’s a very good headset but the replacement SAVI 720 is about the same money and even better. Save your money and buy either that or the brilliant Sennheiser DW Pro 2.
