The Plantronics SAVI WO200 is being discontinued and is being run out until stocks last. This model has been replaced by the SAVI 740 which at their respective price levels is a much better buy. Latest technology for about the same money…..it’s an easy decision. The WO200 is still one of the most comfortable over the ear headset available that connects to both your office phone and computer (USB connection). It’s a headset that’s great for VoIP, or any other computer application you may need. Even if you don’t use it for that, the technology alone is worth paying just a few dollars more for.

So if you're still interested then let’s start with the good...

The Good

The Plantronics SAVI WO200’s voice clarity is brilliant and the noise cancelling cuts down all but a full-blown office meltdown. As an office headset it’s great, but don’t forget it’s also a computer headset too. Normally when products try and do too many things they end up doing none of them well. In this case, it couldn’t be further from the truth.

As a computer headset the SAVI WO200 connects easily via USB and be used for everything from IP calls and IP Softphone applications to SKYPE, Dragon Naturally speaking 11 and other voice recognition software. This is the way technology is moving and headsets like the SAVI WO200, the new Platronics SAVI 740, 710, 720 (that replaces it), the Sennheiser DW Office range and the Jabra Pro 9450 are all ready for it when you are. One headset for everything!

A little secret is… because the SAVI WO 200 can connect to your computer, you can listen to any music on your computer through the headset. It’s great for boring days in the office or to simply give you some tunes to listen to.

The SAVI WO 200 offers users only one wearing style but comes with various sized ear canal inserts to suit almost any ear.

The rapid recharging capability is also handy, but unless you leave it undocked overnight that won’t be an issue. The SAVI WO 200 has a 6-hour talk time, so even the heaviest user won’t run out of juice.

The Not-So-Good

As durable and flexible as the SAVI WO200 is, the sound tube can break if mishandled. But don’t worry – sound tubes are inexpensive and easily changed over. So, if you’re buying a SAVI WO200 buy a couple of spare sound tubes as well.

If you prefer an over the head wearing style and something a lot more durable then check out the exceptionally priced Plantronics WO300 SAVI (also being run out), the latest SAVI 710 or the brilliant Sennheiser DW Office Pro 1 as the smart choices. They were all designed with call centres in mind and can cop a beating and still bounce back.

The Verdict

The Plantronics SAVI WO200 is a wonderful over-the-ear, purpose-built computer and office headset. However the latest 740 is a better buy. If you are fussed about over the ear or over the head, and still want an office phone + computer headset, then check out the runout WO300. The value is second to none. If you’re after the overall best of breed then our money is still on the Sennheiser DW Office, Sennheiser DW Pro 1 or the latest Plantronics SAVI 740.
