What is an electronic hookswitch
An Electronic hook switch is fundamentally the same as a lifter. It connects to your phone system handset and allows you to remotely answer a call. It looks like a relatively simple cable but it talks directly to the system programming and sends special signals to the phone telling it to answer / end calls without having to physically lift up the handpiece.
As with the lifter you should note that even though it allows you to answer / end calls away from your desk you will need to be at your phone handset if you want to do any phone functions such as putting a caller on hold, transferring the call etc.
Electronic hook switches are better than a lifter because they have no moving parts which means there is simply less to go wrong. Not all phones support electronic hook switches and they are typically newer, and often more technologically savvy brands such as Avaya, Cisco, Alcatel.
There are different hook switch models available and you will need to buy the right one for your specific phone handset. Please contact our staff for a compatibility check to ensure you get the right product the first time every time.
