The Good
The Sennheiser SH230 corded headset was designed with call centre use in mind and this is evident in the durable metal headband and flexible boom microphone. This kind of quality construction means even the most heavy handed of users shouldn’t have any issues.
Like the vast majority of Sennheiser products, the SH 230 features ActiveGuard to make it G616-compliant. G616 is an OH&S guideline created to protect phone users from loud, potentially harmful noises. These ‘acoustic shocks’ are transmitted down phone lines as a result of electricity spikes, weather conditions, transmission faults and the like. Failure to comply with G616 guidelines can result in fatigue, anxiety or temporary/permanent hearing loss, but Sennheiser’s ActiveGuard means you’ll be protected whenever you are using your headset.
Sound clarity is great as you would expect from a world leading brand and the flexible boom microphone can be moulded to ensure a close fit to the mouth, for clear communication on every call. The SH230 doesn’t offer noise cancelling however; if you work in a noisy environment and need this feature we recommend you check out the Sennheiser SH330.
The Not-So-Good
The only niggle some might have with the Sennheiser SH 230 is ear cushioning, as there are other models out there with more. However, that extra cushioning does come at a price and in our opinion the SH230 is more than comfortable enough for the average user.
